Memorial Bricks for Memorial Day |
| |
| Sycamore does not have a memorial to all of its veterans. Tom Woodstrup,
one of the Sycamore Historical Society and Museum's founders, who recently
passed away, worked very hard to build support for a local veteran's
memorial. He proudly participated in the memorial's dedication last July. |
| |
Now is the time to act! Don't want anyone to miss out on the opportunity
to have a brick that honors a loved one's sacrifices in a permanent
memorial. The deadline for ordering a brick for this memorial is June 30.
The bricks are available in two sizes. A four by four brick has space for
three lines, and is $100. The four by eight bricks have space for six
lines, and cost $150. For an additional $6 a miniature brick is
available.

"The veteran's memorial was very important to Tom. This will be one of his great contributions to our community. We are also very fortunate to
have Joe Bussone as the new chair. Joe is a very enthusiastic supporter.
He has continued to spread the word and bring in many brick orders for
this project," explained Michelle Donahoe, Executive Director. |
| |
| Once the brick order is placed, work will begin on a larger memorial to
honor those in the Sycamore area who have served their county. The
Memorial is located by the flag pole at the east entrance of Elmwood
Cemetery. |
