There are five people who will be highlighted, and special presentations at the Elmwood Cemetery gates, Soldier’s Row and the Veteran’s Brick memorial. There will also be a viewing of the 1917 mausoleum. Those featured in the Cemetery Walk are: The Buzzell Family, early settlers; the Davis Sisters, the first female business owners; Reuben Ellwood, Sycamore’s first mayor; Ester Mae Nesbitt, World War I hero; along with Cliff and Marjorie Danielson, banker, teacher and community leaders.
“This is a great way to celebrate the Sesquicentennial - by exploring Sycamore’s past. Our community is full of great stories. The Cemetery Walk is a great way to discover more about where you live,” explained Michelle Donahoe, Executive Director of the Sycamore Historical Society and Museum.
