Meanwhile Clint Cargile places her letters in historical context, providing readers with a special appreciation for this exceptional journey.

This is a great read for summer – you get to learn about local history, while going on an amazing adventure. Then, take this story a step further and stop by the Sycamore History Museum and see some of the items to connected to the Yates family. The steamer trunk, family photos, and wedding presents are just a few of the artifacts featured in the current exhibit, “Adventures To and From Sycamore.”
