As September Brown Bag lunch

The City of Sycamore is not the only group in town that is celebrating an important anniversary.  The Sycamore Woman’s Club is celebrating their 100th anniversary in 2008.  Like most organizations, the Sycamore Woman’s Club looked at back their past in preparing for this event.  On Thursday, September 4 at 12:00 Sally Stevens and Virginia McMillion will be sharing the history of how their organization started and thrived through the years.

“In helping volunteers from the Women’s Club do their research, it was like looking at a who’s who in Sycamore,” explained Michelle Donahoe, executive director of the Sycamore Historical Society and Museum.  “We had a fun time looking through the yearbooks and seeing the variety of programs that were offered to these women.  I was very excited that the Woman’s Club was willing to share their stories with us at Brown Bag lunch program, “she continued.

The Brown Bag Lunch series is offered on the first Thursday of the month throughout the year.  The program is free and open to the public.  Coffee and cookies are provided, donations are welcome.  The program is held in the lower level at 308 W. State Street.
