Volunteer Training At Sycamore Historical Society and Museum
Interested in your community’s history?  Like talking to people?  Don’t like talking to people, but like looking at old artifacts, photographs and letters?  Then join us on Saturday, April 26 at 10:00 a.m. to learn about volunteer opportunities at the Sycamore Historical Society.  Don’t feel you have to be an expert in Sycamore history to participate!

During the training Michelle Donahoe, Executive Director will discuss the variety of projects the Historical Society needs help with throughout the year.  Currently, their biggest need is for Saturday volunteers.  The Historical Society is looking for people to volunteer from 10:00 - 1:00 on Saturdays.  They will give you a tour of the exhibit, and prepare you for basic questions about Sycamore history.  However, they have needs “behind the scenes” too!  Databasing projects, filing, copying, researching, writing are just a few examples.  There are also special events were your help is only needed for a few hours once a year. If you cannot make the training session, call Michelle, and she would be happy to meet with you on another date.

"Volunteering at the Historical Society and Museum is a great way to learn more about where you live.  You not only discover your community’s history, but you get to meet out-of-town visitors, scout groups, as well as local residents and their families.  We will provide you with the training - giving tours, filing, using our computer.  If you have some time and want to make an investment in where you live, this is the perfect opportunity.  There are a wide range of projects, so stop in on March 24 at 10:30 to learn more about us!"
