Last chance for guided walking tour

Mark you calendar for Sunday, September 7.  This is the last “Walk through History” guided tour this year. The Sycamore Historical Society and Museum has offered walking tours on the first Sunday of the month throughout the summer. This is your last chance to enjoy a guided tour of Sycamore’s historic district.

Last Chance for a Walking Tour

Walking down Sycamore’s streets, participants will discover the stories connected to buildings in town.  Local historian Stephen Bigolin will explore architectural history of current buildings and explain how several homes would not be recognized by their original owners.  He will also talk about buildings that have been “Lost” over time, as he expands upon the exhibit, “Lost Sycamore.”

This walking tour is a great opportunity to see how Sycamore is surrounded by history.  Many people might be familiar with the historic district, but not aware of the fascinating stories that accompany our community’s buildings.

The walking tour will start at the Farmer’s Market (the corner of Somonauk and Elm) at 1:00 p.m.  The fee is $5 per person. The tour takes about 1 1/2 hours.
